Brighton vs Manchester City Preview
This is a must-win contest for Manchester City, and they cannot afford to slip up at this stage of the season. Despite enjoying a stint in European competitions this season, Brighton’s league performance has faltered, marred by a series of injuries that have hampered Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. Since Haaland joined the club at the start of last season, City have won seven of the nine league games in which he hasn’t appeared (77.8%) compared to 43 of 61 in which he has (70.5%). The current scenario sees Brighton in a mid-table position, having secured only one victory in their recent five matches and trailing six points behind the qualifications for European competitions next season.
Asked how he feels going into the final few games of the season with so much on the line, Guardiola said: “Every game is adrenalin. Every game is important. But yes it’s decisive. Every mistake or every step back makes it more difficult. It is what it is. We have been here in the last years fortunately many times so that’s why we know what we are playing for.”
