Francesco Totti is an Italian former professional footballer who played for AS Roma and the Italy national team. He was born in Rome to parents Lorenzo and Fiorella Totti. Totti began to play youth team football in 1984, with Fortitudo, later joining Trastevere and Lodigiani. He joined Roma youth squad in 1989. Totti has spent his entire career at Roma and is the number one goal scorer and the most capped player in the club’s history.

He made his first senior appearance in 1993 vs Brescia. He was given number 10 in the 1997 season and the armband in 1998. Totti is considered first and one of the most effective false 9s in football. He won Serie A in 2000-01 season. In next few years he transitioned to be a striker. On 19 February 2006, he suffered a fracture of his left fibula and ligament damage during a match against Empoli. He came on as a substitute in copa italia final vs Inter Milan to win 3-1. Roma’s trophy drought started with rise of Juventus and was not able to win any trophies.On 28 May 2017, Totti made his final appearance for Roma in a 3–2 home win against Genoa, coming on as a substitute for Mohamed Salah in the 54th minute and received a standing ovation from the fans.
