Arsenal vs Chelsea Preview
Arsenal vs Chelsea was supposed to take place on Saturday evening but was moved to a midweek kickoff upon a revision from the Metropolitan Police. Gunners will relish the chance to extend Chelsea’s winless run to nine games, but Frank Lampard and the Blues could do some real apologising to supporters with a good result here. Arsenal look to break out of their funk and regain the top spot in the 2022-23 English Premier League table. Frank Lampard is yet to taste victory since returning to Stamford Bridge as interim boss following Graham Potter’s dismissal.
However, their confidence is on the floor following their recent barren run, and no game will be a walk in the park for Arteta’s side. Chelsea are without a win in eight games, with Lampard struggling to get anything out of his bloated and unbalanced squad. After leading the league for much of the year, they haven’t won a game in four matches while losing to Man City, their main title rival. They are still in the lead with two points advantage, but they also have a couple of games in hand. From a Chelsea perspective, even the most optimistic of fans will be bracing themselves for defeat, but supporters will be watching for an improved performance.
Team News
Mikel Arteta has already ruled William Saliba out of this game after confessing there has been no improvement in the centre-back’s injury. Thomas Partey has been carrying an injury in recent weeks so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jorginho. Kai Havertz is back in contention but there will be no sign of Kalidou Koulibaly. The centre-back could be out for the rest of the season alongside Mason Mount, Reece James and Armando Broja.
